Harry Reid International Airport handled about 4.08 million arriving and departing passengers in September, down 8.4% from the 4.45 million it saw in September 2025, according to Clark County Department of Aviation figures reported Thursday by KSNV News 3.

Domestic down, international up

Domestic travel drove the drop. About 3.71 million domestic passengers came through the airport in September, down 9.2% from a year earlier. International traffic moved the other way: nearly 283,000 international passengers, up 5.9%, with gains credited to WestJet, Virgin Atlantic and British Airways.

Among the big domestic carriers, Southwest, Delta and American all carried fewer Las Vegas passengers than last September. Frontier was the standout, up more than 39% to nearly 418,000 flyers, and United edged up 0.9% to nearly 363,000.

Year to date

Through the first nine months of 2026, the airport has counted 38.43 million passengers, about 7.3% fewer than the same stretch of 2025. The county’s report did not give a specific cause for the September decline.

What it means for locals and visitors

Fewer arriving passengers can mean softer demand for rides, rooms and restaurant tables, especially midweek. Visitors may see more competitive fares on some domestic routes, while the growth in international service and in Frontier traffic shows where the airport is still adding travelers. For rideshare and taxi drivers, the airport remains one of the busiest pickup points in the valley, but September’s numbers suggest queues may move slower than they did a year ago. The next monthly report, covering October, is expected in late November.
