The Rio is about to run the biggest promotion in its history. Starting Sunday, Nov. 1, the off-Strip resort on Flamingo Road is “Giving Away the House”: a $500,000 promotion that ends with one Rio Rewards member winning a brand-new Lennar home in the Las Vegas Valley valued at about $400,000. Along the way, another 44 players will pick up free play. Here’s how it works and whether it’s worth your time.

Deal Breakdown

  • Grand prize: a newly built Lennar home in the valley, valued at roughly $400,000, drawn on Saturday, March 6, 2027, at 6 p.m. on the Rio Event Stage.
  • Grand finale extras: four more members win free play that night: $10,000, $5,000, $2,500 and $1,000.
  • Biweekly drawings: eight drawings at 6 p.m. in Lapa Lounge, each paying $1,000 in free play to five winners. Dates: Nov. 14 and 28, Dec. 12 and 26, Jan. 9 and 23, and Feb. 6 and 20.
  • Who can play: anyone 21 or older with a Rio Rewards account and valid ID.

How to Claim It

  1. Join Rio Rewards if you’re not already a member. Every member gets one entry.
  2. Activate your entry on drawing day. This is the step people miss: you have to swipe in at a Rio Rewards promotional kiosk between 3 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. on the day of each drawing to be eligible for it.
  3. Be ready at 6 p.m. Drawings happen at Lapa Lounge, and the March 6 finale moves to the Rio Event Stage.
  4. Read the official rules at the Rio Rewards desk inside the cashier cage, or at riolasvegas.com/win-the-house.

Is It Worth It?

For locals, yes, especially if you already drive past the Rio. Entry comes with your free Rio Rewards card, so the only real cost is the trip to the kiosk on drawing days. With five $1,000 winners at every biweekly drawing, the smaller prizes are the realistic target; the house is a long shot, but somebody walks away with it in March.

Visitors in town on a drawing date can activate an entry too. Just remember the kiosk window closes at 5:45 p.m., and you’ll want to confirm the rules on whether you need to be present to win before you plan around a 6 p.m. drawing.

The promotion lands as the Rio keeps reinventing itself under owner Dreamscape Companies, which bought the resort from Caesars in 2019 and has been pouring money into renovations. Earlier this month the Rio opened Dragon Lair, a slot room built around Dragon Link and Phoenix Link machines in the space that once held its poker room. Rio president Rod Turlan called the giveaway a one-of-a-kind, life-changing prize that guests can’t find anywhere else on or off the Strip.
