COME
BAR
Craps: Tips & Strategy
How it works
- The first roll is the come-out. 7 or 11 wins the Pass Line; 2, 3 or 12 loses. Any other number becomes the point and the puck turns ON.
- Once a point is set, you want the point again before a 7. A 7 ends the round (“seven out”).
- After the point is set, tap PASS LINE again to add odds behind it (true odds, zero house edge, up to 3-4-5x). Tap DON’T PASS BAR to lay odds.
- Come / Don’t Come work like Pass / Don’t Pass but start after the point; your chips travel to the number rolled.
Place vs. Buy vs. Lay
- Place pays a bit under true odds: 4/10 pay 9 to 5, 5/9 pay 7 to 5, 6/8 pay 7 to 6.
- Buy pays true odds (2 to 1, 3 to 2, 6 to 5) minus a 5% commission on wins. Buying the 4 and 10 beats placing them.
- Lay wins when a 7 rolls before that number. Pays 1 to 2 on 4/10, 2 to 3 on 5/9, 5 to 6 on 6/8, minus 5% of the win.
- Set Bets ON/OFF controls whether place, buy and hardway bets work on the come-out roll. Press doubles place and buy bets; Across, Inside (5-6-8-9) and Outside (4-5-9-10) place several numbers at once.
Lucky Roller
- Low Rolls wins if 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 all roll before a 7. High Rolls is the same for 8 through 12. Hit ‘Em All needs every number. Bet them only right after a 7.
The smart bets
- Pass Line + Odds is the best bet in the casino (1.41% edge, odds at 0%). Don’t Pass + Lay Odds is just as good. Place 6 and 8 in $6 units are solid at 1.52%.
Bets to skip
- One-roll bets are fun but expensive: Seven 16.7%, Any Craps 11.1%, 2/12 13.9%, 3/11 11.1%, Horn 12.5%, Hops 11–14%. Hardways run 9–11%.
- Bubble craps machines in Vegas often have $1–$5 minimums, a great way to learn before a live table.
Roulette: Tips & Strategy
How it works
- Bet on a single number (pays 35 to 1), red/black, odd/even, 1–18/19–36 (1 to 1), or a dozen or column (2 to 1).
The math
- A double-zero wheel (0 and 00) has a 5.26% house edge on every bet. A single-zero wheel cuts that to 2.70%, almost half.
- No betting system (Martingale, D’Alembert, etc.) changes the edge. The “Last Numbers” board is fun, but past spins don’t predict the next one.
Vegas tips
- Hunt for single-zero wheels; several Strip casinos have them at higher minimums.
- Avoid the 0-00-1-2-3 “five number” bet: at 7.89% it’s the worst bet on the table.
- Ask for roulette’s own colored chips and tell the dealer what each chip is worth.
Blackjack: Tips & Strategy
Basic strategy cuts the house edge to about 0.5%
- Always split Aces and 8s. Never split 10s or 5s.
- Double 11 against a dealer 2–10, and double 10 against 2–9.
- Stand on hard 12 against a dealer 4–6; stand on 13–16 against 2–6. Otherwise hit.
- Always stand on hard 17 or more. Soft 17 (Ace-6) is a hit or double, never a stand.
- Tap “What should I do?” for the basic-strategy play on your exact hand.
Check the table before you sit
- Only play 3 to 2 blackjack. 6 to 5 tables (common on the Strip) more than triple the house edge.
- “Dealer stands on soft 17” is better for you than “hits soft 17.”
- Skip insurance; it’s a side bet with a big house edge.
Baccarat: Tips & Strategy
How it works
- Cards count face value; 10s and face cards count 0. Only the last digit matters (7 + 8 = 15 = 5). Closest to 9 wins.
- The dealer follows fixed drawing rules; you never decide to hit or stand. A third card is dealt sideways.
The main bets
- Bet Banker. Even after the 5% commission it has the lowest edge: 1.06%. Player is 1.24%.
- Never bet Tie. At 8 to 1 it carries a 14.4% house edge.
- EZ Baccarat (no commission) pays Banker 1 to 1, but a Banker win with a three-card 7 is a push. Same idea, about the same edge.
Side bets (fun, but pricey)
- Player / Banker Pair: first two cards are a pair. Pays 11 to 1 (about 10–11% edge).
- Dragon Bonus: your side wins by a lot. Win by 9 pays 30 to 1, by 8 pays 10 to 1, by 7 pays 6 to 1, by 6 pays 4 to 1, by 5 pays 2 to 1, by 4 pays 1 to 1. A natural win pays 1 to 1 and a natural tie pushes. Player Dragon runs about 2.65% edge; Banker Dragon about 9.4%.
- Dragon 7: Banker wins with a three-card 7. Pays 40 to 1 (7.6% edge). Panda 8: Player wins with a three-card 8. Pays 25 to 1 (10.2% edge).
- Scorecards and bead roads are fun, but streaks don’t predict the next hand.
Vegas tips
- Mini-baccarat tables have lower minimums and faster games than the high-limit rooms.
- Many Vegas casinos spread EZ Baccarat with Dragon 7 and Panda 8, so practice them here first.

DAILY WIRE · TRIPLE SEVENSSlots: Tips & Strategy
What you should know
- Every spin is random. A machine is never “due,” and leaving one doesn’t hand the jackpot to the next person.
- Slots keep a bigger share than table games: often 8–15% on the Strip, less at locals casinos and downtown. This practice machine pays back about 94%.
- Higher-denomination machines usually pay back a larger percentage than penny slots.
Play smarter
- Set a budget and a time limit before you sit down, and walk away when you hit either.
- Always use a players club card. The free play, food and room comps add real value back.
- On progressive jackpots, you often need max bet to qualify; read the glass before you play.
