The Vegas Golden Knights erased a two-goal deficit at TD Garden in Boston on Monday night, Nov. 2, but left with a single point after the Bruins won 3-2 in a shootout.
How the game played out
Boston took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal by James Hagens at 7:23, then made it 2-0 on a Morgan Geekie power-play goal early in the second, according to the NHL’s game recap. Vegas captain Mark Stone answered on a power play at 14:58 of the second period for his 10th goal of the season, and Trevor Connelly tied it 2-2 at 7:23 of the third.
Overtime settled nothing. In the shootout, David Pastrnak scored the only goal, beating Vegas goalie Carter Hart, who finished with 25 saves. Boston’s Jeremy Swayman stopped 21 shots. Mitch Marner had two assists for Vegas, stretching his point streak to 10 games.
Bowman ejected in the second period
Golden Knights forward Braeden Bowman was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct for elbowing Bruins forward Matthew Poitras at 2:49 of the second period. Poitras went to the dressing room and later returned to the bench in a full face shield but did not play another shift. Any further league review had not been announced.
Where the Knights stand
The point moves Vegas to 9-5-2, but the Knights are 1-3-2 in their past six games. Boston improved to 11-4-1 with its sixth straight home win.
What it means for locals and visitors
The Knights are still collecting points, but the recent skid is something to watch as they work through their schedule.
