Clark County election officials are warning voters who have not cast a ballot yet to expect longer waits at vote centers this Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3. Polls close at 7 p.m., and the county says anyone already in line by then will still be able to vote.

Why the lines are longer

The county pointed to two reasons: expected high turnout for the 2026 midterm and changes to this year’s voting process. Officials did not detail the process changes in their advisory, according to local TV reports. A county spokesperson said waits “may be longer in the morning, lunch, and evening hours,” which puts the after-work rush squarely in the final hour of voting.

Turnout was already heavy before Tuesday. More than 665,000 people had cast ballots by the last day of early voting on Friday, KTNV reported, and Clark County said in a Nov. 2 release that 220,021 in-person votes had been cast during early voting.

How to get through faster

  • Any vote center works. Registered voters in Clark County can vote at any designated vote center in the county, not just the one closest to home.
  • Check waits before you go. The county’s Find My Vote Center tool on its website shows wait times at each location.
  • Get in line by 7 p.m. If you are in line at closing time, stay in line.
  • Mail ballots: They must be postmarked on or before Nov. 3, or you can drop them off at a polling location on Election Day, according to the county.

What it means for locals and visitors

Expect extra traffic and full parking lots around busy vote centers between now and 7 p.m., especially near schools, community centers and libraries that are hosting voting. Rideshare drivers should plan for pickups and drop-offs near vote centers and for heavier evening traffic. Results will start coming in after polls close; the Nevada Secretary of State has launched a redesigned results website for this election.
