Couples planning Las Vegas weddings are scrambling after a local wedding planning company, Ebony and Ivory Productions, announced this week that it was closing effective immediately and ending all future services, News 3 Las Vegas reported Friday evening.

What happened

According to News 3, the company announced the closure on Tuesday, leaving booked clients unsure whether they will get their money back. One bride told the station she paid nearly $6,000 for a package that included photography, videography, a content creator, coordination, and hair and makeup. Another said she paid in full and has requested a refund by email without a reply so far.

That bride started a Facebook group for affected clients, and she told News 3 that about 175 other brides have reached out to her. She also shared a company cancellation policy stating that if the company cancels, it will refund “all possible monies paid by the client.” News 3 said it could not reach the company’s owners by phone or email and found no public business record under the Ebony and Ivory Productions name, noting the business could operate under a different legal name.

Help for affected couples

Chapel of the Flowers told News 3 it is offering a complimentary ceremony package to couples affected by the closure. Couples who lost money have filed complaints with Nevada state business agencies, the Better Business Bureau, and the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), and some are pursuing legal action. Clients have been sharing information in the Facebook group “Ebony and Ivory Production Clients Seeking Answers.”

What it means for locals and visitors

Las Vegas is one of the busiest wedding destinations in the country, and many couples book vendors months in advance. If you booked with this company, keep copies of your contract, receipts and emails, contact your card issuer about a possible dispute, and file complaints with the agencies above. For anyone booking now, check that a vendor has a registered Nevada business license, read the cancellation terms closely, and consider paying deposits by credit card for added protection.
