SWAT barricade on West Tropicana ends with suspect in custody
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officers were called around 3:12 a.m. to a reported domestic disturbance in the 9800 block of West Tropicana Avenue, near Grand Canyon Drive in the southwest valley. Police said one of the people involved refused to comply, so the call was handled as a barricade, and SWAT officers and crisis negotiators responded. The suspect was later taken into custody without further incident, according to police. No injuries were reported, and the suspect’s name has not been released. (News 3, FOX5, KTNV)
Driver tip: Tropicana Avenue was shut down at Grand Canyon Drive during the police response, News 3 reported. If you’re heading toward the 215 or Durango this morning, expect possible lingering police activity in the area and consider Flamingo Road or Russell Road as alternates until the scene is fully cleared.
