Plan for slower overnight drives across the valley next week. The Nevada Department of Transportation announced a batch of road projects on Friday, Oct. 30, and most of the new lane reductions begin Sunday night, Nov. 1, FOX5 reported. Here is what is changing and where.

US 95 / I-11 in the northwest

  • Martin Luther King Blvd to West Lake Mead Blvd (both directions): a long-running pavement project will intermittently drop traffic to two lanes from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday nights through Friday mornings. NDOT says this schedule runs through Dec. 1, 2027.
  • Southbound, Lake Mead Blvd to Rainbow Blvd: lane reductions, including HOV lanes in both directions, nightly 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Sunday, Nov. 1 through Friday, Nov. 6.
  • I-11 SafeTech Corridor work (around the clock through mid-November): the northbound off-ramp to Decatur Blvd is closed. Use the northbound Valley View Blvd off-ramp to reach Decatur. Lanes are also reduced on the southbound off-ramp to Decatur and Valley View and on the Valley View on-ramp to northbound US 95.

Rainbow Boulevard paving

Between Desert Inn Road and Silverstream Avenue, Rainbow will intermittently narrow to one lane in each direction from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday nights through Friday mornings, Nov. 1 through Nov. 20. There is no work Friday or Saturday nights, and the closures will shift as paving moves along.

Airport Connector and Sunset Road

Paving near Harry Reid International Airport runs 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday nights through Friday mornings, Nov. 1 through Nov. 20. Expect intermittent closures of the two left lanes on the southbound Airport Connector, plus possible lane reductions or full closures on its ramps to eastbound I-215, Warm Springs Road, and Hidden Well Road/westbound I-215. Detours will be posted if a ramp closes.

What it means for locals and visitors

Daytime commutes are mostly untouched, but late-night trips will be slower, especially airport runs heading south toward I-215 and the Henderson side. Driver tip: for late pickups or drop-offs at Harry Reid, build in extra minutes and consider Paradise Road or Eastern Avenue if the Airport Connector ramps are closed. In the northwest, Decatur-bound drivers should take the Valley View exit. NDOT says schedules can change because of weather, so check nvroads.com before heading out.
