I drive Uber and Lyft Black in Las Vegas every day, and visitors ask me all the time where they can walk. Here are two stretches I tell tourists to skip on foot. They’re not attractions, and there’s no reason to wander out there, especially after dark.
1. East Charleston Boulevard
East Charleston isn’t a tourist area. There’s not much for visitors to see, and it’s not where you want to be walking around at night. If you’re heading to the Arts District or downtown, take a rideshare there instead of walking out this way.
2. Fremont Street past 15th Street
The fun part of Fremont is downtown: the Fremont Street Experience and the bars and restaurants of Fremont East. Once you get past 15th Street it’s not a tourist area anymore, so don’t plan on walking out that far. Turn around or call a ride.
Driver tips for getting around
- Stick to the Strip, downtown, the Arts District and other busy, well-lit areas when you’re on foot.
- Use a rideshare to get between areas instead of walking long stretches, especially at night.
- Wait for your ride inside or near a hotel or business entrance, not on an empty corner.
- Check your driver’s name, car and plate before you get in.
