Breaking, Wednesday, Oct. 14: President Donald Trump spent Tuesday night in Las Vegas. Air Force One landed at Harry Reid International Airport just before midnight on Tuesday, Oct. 13, and his motorcade took him to the Trump International Hotel just off the Strip, according to a White House pool report.

Why he was here

Las Vegas was an overnight stop. The president flew in from Alaska, where he held a rally in Wasilla on Tuesday. On Wednesday he headed to a Republican midterm rally at Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport in Bullhead City, Arizona, just across the Colorado River from Laughlin. The White House said he would speak at 1 p.m. From there he was scheduled to continue to a rally in Kalispell, Montana.

The Bullhead City event focused on Arizona’s Republican ticket, less than three weeks before the Nov. 3 election. Rep. Andy Biggs, the GOP nominee for Arizona governor, was expected to speak. Nevada Republican Marty O’Donnell, who is challenging Democratic Rep. Susie Lee in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District (which includes Laughlin), was also expected to attend.

What it means if you’re driving

  • Presidential motorcades bring short, rolling road closures between the airport and the hotel, and temporary flight restrictions around the airport. Expect brief holds if you’re near Harry Reid or Fashion Show Drive while the motorcade moves.
  • This all landed during a week when Flamingo Road is already closed at Koval Lane 24/7 until 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, for F1 bridge work, so the back roads are busy.
  • Heading to Laughlin today? Expect extra traffic around Bullhead City and the airport there.
