One of the biggest tech conventions of the fall is underway on the Strip. Oracle AI World runs Sunday, Oct. 25, through Wednesday, Oct. 28, at The Venetian Convention and Expo Center, and Oracle says GRAMMY-winning band Maroon 5 will headline the conference’s closing celebration, The Party.
What’s happening this week
- Mainstage keynotes are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 26 and 27. Larry Ellison, Oracle’s chairman and chief technology officer, and Oracle co-CEOs Mike Sicilia and Clay Magouyrk are listed as featured speakers, according to a Navan event guide.
- The focus is enterprise AI: Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, AI-driven databases and the business apps companies run on them, plus hands-on labs, breakout sessions and an expo floor. Oracle’s FAQ says registration also includes access to the SuiteWorld mainstage keynotes and SuiteWorld Expo.
- Maroon 5 at The Party is the finale. Oracle’s event site calls it the “ultimate finale to four incredible days,” and the Navan guide lists The Party for Tuesday, Oct. 27. Entry is for registered attendees with eligible passes, plus guest passes Oracle sells to attendees.
- Can’t get in? Oracle offers a free Oracle AI World On Air digital pass that streams the mainstage keynotes and select sessions online.
Why it matters for Las Vegas
Oracle has reported more than 20,000 attendees at recent flagship events, according to the Navan guide. That means a busy week for hotels, restaurants and rideshare around the Venetian, Palazzo and the north half of the Strip, right before Halloween weekend.
Driver and visitor tips
- Expect heavy pickups at the Venetian and Palazzo rideshare areas when keynotes and sessions let out, especially Monday and Tuesday afternoons and late Tuesday night after The Party.
- Airport runs: Harry Reid International Airport is about 4 miles from the Venetian. Plan for extra demand Wednesday and Thursday as attendees head home.
- Local driving: Sands Avenue, Koval Lane and Las Vegas Boulevard near Spring Mountain Road will be slower than usual during the day. Give yourself extra time.
